Bestuursvoorzitter E&Y: Lehman’s verslaggeving volgens de regels

James Turley heeft er alle vertrouwen in dat Lehman Brothers de verslaggevingsregels correct heeft toegepast. Het is echter wel nodig dat de verslaggevingsstandaarden worden aangepast. Dit zegt de bestuursvoorzitter van Ernst & Young global in een reactie op de berichtgeving rond de rol van het kantoor bij de ineenstorting van zakenbank.

De bestuursvoorzitter maakte zijn opmerkingen tijdens een interview met het financiële persbureau Bloomberg. "We've seen since Lehman failed a lot of changes in financial reporting standards, disclosure standards, SEC standards are on MDN, so we're confident that Lehman complied with accounting standards, and that's what the investigations have said, and also we're disclosing properly."

Maar tegelijkertijd gaf Turley aan dat de verslaggevingsregels moeten veranderen. "I think it's important there be a lot more disclosure, and that's what is coming out of both the SEC changes and the changes from the standard setters." Turley betreurde het overigens dat Ernt & Young zo nadrukkelijk in het nieuws is over de kwestie Lehman. "We are not pleased to be in the spotlight like this."
