New IFRS Accounting Standard will aid investor analysis of companies' financial performance
The International Accounting Standards Board (IASB) today completed its work to improve the usefulness of information presented and disclosed in financial statements. The new Standard, IFRS 18 Presentation and Disclosure in Financial Statements, will give investors more transparent and comparable information about companies' financial performance, thereby enabling better investment decisions. It will affect all companies using IFRS Accounting Standards.

'Ouderwetse mentaliteit bedreigt relevantie accountant'
Accountants moeten anders omgaan met het waarderen van immateriële activa, anders verliezen ze hun relevantie, stellen twee Canadese accountants. Volgens hoogleraar externe verslaggeving Arjan Brouwer is het logisch dat accountants zich meer moeten bezighouden met niet-financiële informatie. "De huidige regels kun je conservatief noemen."

ESRB report on climate-related risks in the financial statements
The European Systemic Risk Board (ESRB) has published a report on how climate-related risks are reflected in IFRS financial statements. The report finds that while IFRSs generally enable entities to effectively reflect climate-related risks in their financial statements, minor amendments would increase financial stability.
